Numerous colour resources can be found on the web.

The following is a selection of key resources you may find interesting.

Web-safe colours

Visibone  Visibone provides an interesting, interactive way to select web-safe colour combinations.  (HTML and CSS resources are also available).

Colormix  By dithering 2 or 3 web-safe colours it is possible to make over 10 million different colour combinations.  Colormix provides a quick and easy way to combine these 216 hex values.  Once you have created a colour, you can download swatches to use as backgrounds and fill colours.

Death of the Websafe Color Palette? (Webmonkey) Definitely worth reading.  A Webmonkey article that will answer these burning questions:
  1. Given all the new versions of browsers and operating systems that have emerged since the original websafe palette was created, is the websafe palette still Web-safe?
  2. With the dominant number of users now running High Colour and True Colour displays -- as opposed to the 256 colour displays of three or four years ago -- can we use whatever colours we want?
  3. And if it turns out that our choice of colours is still limited, is there a new websafe palette for High and True Colour machines?

Colour technology

Pantone Pantone has developed over 1000 internet colours, each with a unique Pantone number that can be used to communicate with printers.  147 of these colours can be accessed free on the Pantone web site.

The International Color Consortium (ICC)  The International Color Consortium was established in 1993 by eight industry vendors for the purpose of creating, promoting and encouraging the standardization and evolution of an open, vendor-neutral, cross-platform colour management system architecture and components.
